Inkana Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 13, 2026 · Provider: Inimasolution
Inkana is an iOS and Android app for learning Japanese through writing practice. This policy explains the data sent from the app, why it is used, and the choices available to you.
Account Sign-In and Sync
Apple and Google sign-in are optional for ordinary study. An Inkana account is required to sync progress between platforms, share paid access, or start a new subscription. When you sign in, Inkana sends the provider token or authorization code to our server for verification. We store an internal account identifier, the Apple or Google provider subject, learning progress, selected app settings, and verified entitlement state. We never merge accounts solely because email addresses match; adding another sign-in method requires an explicit action from an authenticated account.
When a provider supplies a name and verified email, including an Apple private-relay address, we use them only to identify the signed-in account in Settings and store them with account-sync data. When available, an Apple authorization code is exchanged for a refresh token that is encrypted at rest and used solely to revoke the Apple connection when the account is deleted.
Optional Handwriting-Data Sharing
Only when you enable handwriting-data sharing in Settings, Inkana sends handwriting images, the expected character, recognition result and confidence, learning stage, app version, and a random installation upload identifier. We use this information to improve handwriting recognition. The upload identifier is not sent with Apple or Google sign-in and is not stored as part of your account record. It can distinguish contributions from the same installation, so it is disclosed in the applicable store privacy information.
Handwriting data is not used for advertising, cross-app tracking, or marketing.
Optional Feedback
When you choose to send feedback in Settings, Inkana sends the category and message you enter, plus the app version, operating-system version, and selected app language. Feedback is not connected to your Inkana account or handwriting upload identifier. Do not include passwords, payment details, contact information, or other sensitive personal information.
Optional Product-Improvement Analytics
When a build offers the “Share anonymous product-improvement data” setting, it is on, and a collection service is configured, Inkana sends a separate random installation identifier, app version, language, territory, campaign token when present, and limited learning or subscription milestones. It never sends handwriting, answer text, your name, email, provider account information, or store transaction identifiers in these events. Events are retained locally for at most 30 days for retry and are deduplicated by a random event identifier.
You can turn this setting off at any time. Inkana then clears pending analytics events and sends no future non-essential product-improvement events.
Information Stored on Your Device
The app stores learning progress, practiced content, quiz results, pen settings, and onboarding choices on your device so ordinary learning can work offline. Apple and Google determine store purchase validity; Inkana's server verifies store transactions and shares the resulting paid-access state with the same signed-in Inkana account across iOS and Android. Pending or unverified purchases do not grant access.
Retention and Deletion
- Account sync data, provider profile details shown in Settings, verified entitlement records, and encrypted Apple revocation credentials are retained while your account is active.
- Use Settings → Account → Delete account to delete the server account, linked identities, synced progress and settings, server sessions, and account credentials. You will be signed out. Account deletion does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription; cancel it separately in the store where it was purchased.
- Use Settings → Delete contributed handwriting data to delete samples contributed by the current installation and rotate its anonymous upload identifier. Raw handwriting contributions are also automatically deleted within 24 months. We retain only data that we are legally required to retain.
- Feedback is automatically deleted within 24 months.
Data Protection and Sharing
We do not sell personal data, run advertising SDKs, or use third-party analytics SDKs. Our server infrastructure processes the account-sync, handwriting, feedback, and optional product-improvement data described above only to operate and improve Inkana. Any service provider that processes data for us is required to protect it at least to the standard described in this policy and may use it only to provide that service.
Your Choices and Contact
You can turn handwriting-data sharing or, where offered, anonymous product-improvement data off at any time in Settings. Turning either off stops its future uploads. You can delete this installation's handwriting contributions without an account, sign out to stop future account sync on this device, or delete the account to remove server-stored account data.
